What to compare

Compare draw schedules, inspection fees, interest on drawn balances, completion requirements and the transition to permanent financing.

Questions to ask

Ask who approves draws, how cost overruns are handled and whether a second closing is required. A standard amortization estimate does not model staged draws.

Build a complete cost picture

List the amount received, repayment schedule, interest rate, fees and total amount repaid. Use the same amount and term when comparing offers. Check whether the rate can change and whether early repayment carries a charge. An estimate cannot establish approval or eligibility.
